Arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Friday. Kuala Lumpur i was told (by a cabbie last time i was here) literally means "Port" - Kuala of "Mud" - Lumpur. This is the capital of Malaysia, a country im very fond of. Two of my close friends are married to Malaysian ladies and ive been here twice before for their weddings. Like people of many asian countries, its been my experience that Malaysians are incredibly friendly people.
The city is built on a massive flood plain in a valley, which is why its liable to flooding. Ive been here when whole motorways were unusable due to flooding. This prompted the malaysian govt. to build a massive drainage tunnel, which i think was completed / opened this year. Its apparently huge and can drain massive amounts of storm waters very quickly. So, another cabbie told me, now there should be no more flooding...
The weather here's like sri lanka, hot and humid all year round and close to 30oC, though it rained for the first few days I was here..
