Exploring KL...

Due to the high number of vast air-conditioned shopping malls, KL's like a ultimo paradise for women...i've talked to women (friends and relatives) who've spent their whole time in KL just shopping !!!

I was staying behind a large mall called the 'Times Square Plaza'....with the monorail running over head and multistorey buildings lining the street, it reminded me a bit of scenes from the film 'Blade Runner' :

Inside the malls, there was a lot of chinese decoration to celebrate the forthcoming Chinese New Year on the 3rd Feb..

These things are absolutely massive and puts Blue Water in Kent to shame...

Malaysia, like Sri Lanka was colonised by the Portugese, Dutch and finally the British. They gained their independence in 1957. I went to see the colonial district where the buldings & canals display their colonial influences..

In the centre, is 'Merdeka' (independence) square, on which the tall flag pole like national monument can be found..

As this is an Islamic republic, many of the buildngs also have islamic influences :

I also, went to China town later that day, but found it small and relatively unimpressive (its about the size of London's China town). Bangkok's china town in comparison is much bigger and very interesting..

There are a few interesting stalls including those where you can get a parrot to pick fortune cards for you & palm/tarrot readers stalls...
