Journey to Galle (17th Dec)

Went by van to my mother's home town of Galle (south of Colombo).
It's also the town where i was born. We're gonna stay for one night only and then we're going to head up to Colombo. It was raining hard (AGAIN!!!) & made me think, im gonna plan the rest of my trip carefully to avoid the monsoon season in each country....

My mother's parents ancestral house is on a one acre plot of land & when i was younger, i used to love running around the garden.

Even the dogs look tired of the rain :

There was always lots of wildlife.

My uncle found a 'monitor lizard' which had probably been run over by a vehicle & is nursing it back to health with a diet of fruit and fish in the front garden. Poor fellow:

Monitor lizards are largely herbivorous as compared to their larger, more dangerous relative - the water monitor. Those guys can easily eat cats and dogs and when fully grown kill live prey by whacking it with their powerful tails. The force of an adult can easily break a man's leg...
