Journey to Mumbai, Chor (Thieves') City

Ok, Mumbai probably doesn't deserve this title, but it does make the blog sound more dramatic.. .

You do have to be careful here, as i'll explain below..

I flew a low cost carrier called Indigo airlines. I'd have to give this airline maximum points for a few reasons...they are good value - Delhi to Mumbai one way cost only £50; the aircraft was a new Airbus A320 which was very clean and in good condition..; but most importantly, whoever was in charge of employing the hostesses was doing a very good job :)they were VERY attractive (and friendly at the same time).. :)
I was so impressed with two of them, that i had a look at the airlines corporate gumf..apparently they employ hostesses between ages 18 - 27 of Indian nationality only...

I arrived at Mumbai airport (Domestic terminal) at around 19.30. It's a very nice airport, looks better than New Delhi airport and makes Heathrow look like a piece of junk...

I paid for a prepaid taxi and as soon as i stepped outside the airport, someone tried to scam me. A guy said he was a prepaid driver and while walking to the taxi, innocently asked if i had change for 1000 Rs note (which was probably fake), so he could buy some diesel. One thing about travelling around Asia is that you get very used to a wide variety of scams... another thing i've learnt while travelling in Asia is, how to lie with a smile....

...so i innocently said i had no change (ignoring the 20,000 Rs in my money belt) & smiled, at which point he said he had an AC only car (i had paid for non-AC) and led me to the proper pick up point for prepaid cabs...we said bye politely and went our separate ways...

Everyone's out to make a buck in Mumbai, honestly or dishonestly. It's not surprising as there are 20 million people here, equivalent to the entire population of Sri Lanka..!

I'm gonna have to be careful here ....
